Rebuilding Together Passes Baton to 516 Project
Effective Summer 2022, Rebuilding Together closed its doors and refers community to non-profit ministry, 516 Project.
Fredericksburg, VA — For twenty-nine years, Rebuilding Together Fredericksburg has been on mission to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives. The vision has always remained the same- to provide people in need, particularly older adults and those with disabilities with safe, warm and dry homes. Their impact stretches far and wide, and our communities are better because of the years with Rebuilding Together. In May of this year, the board of directors made the difficult decision to close their doors due to a variety of factors but is thrilled to announce its hand-off to local non-profit ministry 516 Project.
Roy Burnett, treasurer and Executive Director for Rebuilding Together, states, “We are excited to know that the 516 Project provides home repairs to the qualified less fortunate of our communities. Over the last several years, we have collaborated with them on several projects and have the utmost confidence in their abilities to carry on the much-needed service to homeowners needing critical repairs to their homes. Because of our trust in 516 Project, we are pleased to hand off our projects, resources, and full support to the 516 Project.”
516 Project was founded by James Roberson in 2016 as a construction and disaster relief ministry. In its over six years of service, 516 project has served thousands of people through the building of ramps, accessible bathrooms, minor home repairs, yard care, and clean up following disasters. The team responds locally to needs, and nationally to recover and rebuild following floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
President and founder James Roberson states, “We are thankful for the nearly 30 years of service Rebuilding Together provided to the Fredericksburg Region. Our team at 516 Project was honored to serve alongside them these past six years. As our teams come together to serve, we are excited to continue Building Access to Hope for the Fredericksburg region and beyond.”
