Update – Psalm 91:2

“This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalm 91:2

I love to look into God’s word, and especially at times like this when there is so much insecurity in the world. So much can be learned from the words God has given us and I’d encourage you to be in your bible daily.

Thank you so much for your continued support and participation with 516 Project. Our leadership team has been talking and meeting via zoom recently and we are very excited for what God has in store for the future. Even in our uncertainty, we know His plan is amazing and perfect to bring glory to Him through us. “Let your light so shine before men that they would see your good works and glorify your father in heaven” Matthew 5:16

We are monitoring this COVID 19 situation closely and trying to make adjustments as necessary. We are still serving! But yes, it does look a little different. We want to take reasonable precautions, obey the instructions of our local and state authorities and consider how our actions might affect the health of others.

In that vein, we’ve teamed up with Lifepoint Church to provide food and some supplies to families on our work list. We are also still working on exterior projects. Over the past couple weeks we’ve completed roof repairs, band board replacement and porch build, plumbing and HVAC repairs and several others. We’ll have a couple wheelchair ramps getting installed soon as well.

This has also caused us to make some tough decisions. We have temporarily discontinued serving inside homes unless it is a situation that is a direct and immediate safety issue for the family. Should a situation arise that justifies serving inside the home, we will employ great care to limit exposure and ensure cleanliness.

Even though the date falls beyond the current window that Governor Northam has put in Executive Order 53, we have also decided to cancel our big Spring Serve Weekend scheduled for May 15-16th. The planning and tasks that need to happen in order for the event to be done with excellence are impacted by the current restrictions.

We will have announcements coming out soon for ways you can still serve with us throughout the spring. Our yard and lawn teams will be getting going soon. Here it is March and I’ve already had to mow my grass! This is a great way to get out and serve with your family. We currently have about 15 widows on our list for weeding, pruning, mulching and mowing. Great opportunity for a family to serve together.

We encourage you to use this time to reconnect at a higher level with your family. Take the time to pray together and for our community, state and country.  Pray for (and reach out to) those friends and neighbors you  know have had some questions about Jesus. This is a great time to share the love of Jesus and let them know they have a foundation in God. This could be the moment God uses you to make an eternal impact. We pray in all this, they would see Jesus and develop a stronger relationship with God.

We are so honored to have you as part of the 516 Project family. Thank you for all you do to share the love of Jesus.  Be The Light!
